Software Application: Microsoft Access Due Date: Friday 25th July, 2050 Weight: 25% Outcomes to be assessed:
H1.1 Applies and explains an understanding of the nature and function of information technologies to a specific practical situation H2.1 Analyses and describes a system in terms of the information processes involved H2.2 Develops and explained solutions for an identified need which addresses all of the information processes H6.1 Analyses situations, identifies needs, proposes and then develops solutions H6.2 Selects, justifies and applies methodical approaches to planning, designing or implementing solutions H7.1 Implements and explains effective management techniques H7.2 Uses methods to thoroughly document the development of individual and team projects
Scenario:"Music Online" is an online music store which stores and sells music. The online store currently has an unorganised and confusing storage system containing song names but does not contain any further relevant information about the song or artist. The store is becoming very untidy and Mr Music, the store's manager is always losing customers because they are unable to search the database to find what they want. Mr Music would like to implement a newly developed electronic database for the online store. Your task is to develop a proposed database system for Mr Music's "Music Online" store. You will need to work through the five stages of the System Development Cycle and follow effective project management procedures to complete the task.Task:SystemDevelopment Cycle Documentation:

Preliminary Investigation- Can the problem be solved with a "quick fix" solution (150 words)
Problem definition (100 words)
Requirements of the new system Report (brief description)
PLANNING (H2.1, H2.2, H6.1, H6.2, H7.1)
A Feasibility Study including:
Requirement Report (200 words)
Feasibility of the new system (technical feasibility, schedule feasibility only) (250 words)

Brief description of the testing and evaluation of the new system (300 words)
Evaluation of whether or not the initial needs were met through the development of the new system (150 words)
Development of a proposed working prototype (H1.1)
Construct a database which could be implemented in the online music store. This relational database should be developed using Microsoft
Access 2007, and should contain a minimum of five queries and a number of related tables. (No reports or forms are necessary for the purpose of this assessment.)
